Ironing
I have hated ironing for as long as I could remember. I just wasn't any good at it. The iron I used was the one Doug had when I met him. 14 years ago. It wasn't until my mom came over and used my iron and told me it was broken did I realize why I wasn't any good at ironing. It helps to have a working iron. Now I see how it actually DOES iron out the wrinkles. Amazing.

Christmas in Dahlonega December 10th
I am a little late on this post, I blame Santa.
We met Doug's family in Dahlonega to cut down our Christmas tree and spend the night. We all had a great time. Jack and Abby were a little crabby from being sick for a month straight, but other than that, they behaved fairly well. Well, except Abby refused to nap on the way there and Jack stayed up until 10pm that night, so he was a little "off" the following morning.
First, we checked out Santa. Jack flat-out refused to get in his lap. Even with Eleanor telling him it was ok, he wasn't convinced. Neither Martha nor Abby were impressed with Santa either. Eleanor was right at home and told Santa all of her wishes.
After Santa, we headed over to the tree farm. Abby did take a tiny nap on the way to the tree farm, so we let her sleep in the car. We used our phones as a baby monitor. It was a SMALL family tree farm, so don't worry!
From there we went to dinner. Everything was yummy and all of the children were fairly well behaved. When we got back to the room it even snowed a bit!! It was a fabulous evening and we were right on the square of Dahlonega. So nice. The following morning we opened presents. Minus a few melt-downs from the two sibling toddlers, all was good.

It is just so nice when I remember to trim Abby's nails. She has a lovely habit of digging her thumb nail in you.

Auntie Lex and Uncle Bobby chose well. They are loving whack a ball. Even if Jack isn't sharing HER toy so well.

No paci
I have been leery to post this but Jack hasn't used a paci in about two weeks. It was totally his call. He kept chewing them and I had told him that this last one was it. He got the message. I was hesitant to post about it because I kept waiting for a freak out. You just don't know how thrilled I am he gave it up. Only because I couldn't stand the sucking sound it made. Otherwise I was going to send him to college with it. That and Wilbur and Kitty.

Root canal
So, I had a root canal 2 days ago and it is still killing me. I took percosets the first night and they made me loopy and nauseous. So, I filled the vicodin prescription thinking it would be better. Nope. Still made me nauseous. So, I am back to advil. I have tried to go to bed early the last 2 nights but pain pills jack me up. Ugh. So, here it is 2 days before Christmas and I am having tooth issues. Oh, and I need to go BACK today because my filling chipped. Lovely. So, I know you are thinking that at least the kids are behaving...let's just say Jack's new home is time out. So, no.

Locked in!
So, Doug swapped the door knob around on Jack and Abby's room so we could lock him in to keep him from coming out of his room 100 times at night. Which, we have only tried once and it really freaks him out, so it isn't working. Anywho, yesterday I was nursing Abby and Jack was in there for his "quiet time", since he dropped his nap this past week. (Lovely he would do this to me the week before Christmas). Anyway, I was sitting there nursing when Jack got up, told me he had to go potty, closed the door and LOCKED it. Abby had just fallen asleep so I put her in the crib. I went to go unlock the door, but found out it wasn't one that you could unlock with a coin (like ALL of our other door knobs). It was a keyed lock. Damn!
Luckily I had my cell phone, (I use it to check out Facebook, etc while nursing), so I called Doug. He didn't hear his phone because he was on his bike trainer and it is extremely loud. It sounds like a jet engine, just so you know how loud it is. So, I start banging on the door, quietly at first because I don't want to wake Abby. I then started BANGING on the door and calling for Jack. At this point, I was livid. Jack wouldn't come open the door.
I then called my neighbor Dell, to see if she was home and could come unlock the door. She wasn't, she was at Walmart. Although, she did think it was hilariously funny. I told her it really wasn't and it might be in 5 hrs but right then I was pretty angry. I kept banging and Jack finally came and unlocked it. I can't believe Abby slept through it all but she did. Even though this was yesterday, it still hasn't gotten to be funny yet. Maybe next year. I did find the key to the door knob and put it on Jack's bookcase. Mama is not going to be out-smarted again. Well, at least not for the next week or so.

Dentist
So this morning I went to the dentist to get 2 fillings fixed. I had a cavity form under an old filling I had to only find out I need a root canal and a crown. It is going to cost me $3500 and we don't have insurance since Doug has his own biz. This sucks. I have had dental ins my whole life and never need it. The 2 years I don't have it and I need a freaking root canal & crown. I am so pissed.
Cavity1,2,3: $781
Root canal: $1284-1584
Crown: $1359
Total: ~$3484
Merry Christmas to my dentist.

Doug's birthday weekend extravaganza part 2
Doug had a pretty good time Friday night (I left off how we went to Ruth and Dell's after dinner, but that is probably a good thing). So, I let him sleep in (UNTIL 10:30am!!) on Saturday morning. Doug was feeling a bit under the weather. Since I am a slacker wife and didn't have anything for him to open on his birthday, I asked Jack what we should get him for his birthday. Jack said a baseball. So, off to Target we went, but not before we put up streamers for Dada!
Jack decided he need a baseball and a softball (one for him and dada), which I thought was a baseball and a tee ball. Who knew a baseball was so small? Anyway, we got our stuff and headed home. I decided as a treat we would go to Fellini's and then hit the Yogurt Tap. We had a yummy lunch and tasty dessert.

Abby was trying to dive into my arms |
The day was shaping up nicely and Doug and I had a sitter coming over at 8pm that night so we could to a Christmas party. Whohoo!! We then had plans to go out Sunday night for dinner. Doug was going to race Sunday morning so he didn't want to do the party and then dinner, making it a late night (again) so we opted to split the date night into 2 nights.
Abby cooperated nicely Saturday night and went to bed fairly easily. Jack, on the other hand, refused to stay in bed. My friend, Blair Glass showed up and he was still awake. I introduced her to Jack and was all dressed and ready to walk out the door when Abby cried out. Doug wanted to go, but I said it would be easiest for me to just nurse her back down verse having her awake when we got back. I went back to nurse her and then.......she vomited ALL OVER ME. Projectile, all over me, all over her, all in her hair, all over the floor, it went everywhere. Jack was thrilled, he had never witnessed this before. Ugh. So, I told Blair we would need to reschedule and Doug got to spend his birthday night cleaning up vomit.
Poor Abby is still sick and it is now Wednesday. She threw up for 4 days. Then, Jack started yesterday. Needless to say, it has been a boatload of fun over here. I have been thrown up on no less than 2 times a day. I wonder if Doug likes my new perfume? Vomit de la bleh? Merry Christmas!
