Wyatt didn't nurse before bed tonight 10/28/2013

I am trying to night wean Wyatt since he is almost 2 and there isn't really a good reason for me to be getting up for him to nurse. Since he hasn't nursed to sleep at night in months I thought I would start there and try not nursing him before bed and having Doug put him to bed. It worked!! Tonight he went to bed without nursing. He had a yogurt drink, Doug read him his stories and put him in the crib. Doug sat with him for a little bit, but not more than 10 min. He was fussing a bit, so I went into him and he didn't ask to nurse and I wasn't going to offer. I gave him his probiotic, kissed him again and told him to go to bed. It makes me sad to think of him weaning because I still think of him as my baby. He is only nursing 3 times a day now anyway, at nap (which he nurses to fall asleep), bedtime and then sometime between 3-6am. I remember when Jack and Abby both weaned. It is so bittersweet, but I was pregnant both times so I knew it was only a matter of time before I would be nursing a little baby again. I am not so sure this time and it makes me really sad. Teaching your children independence is so hard. I want them to be my babies forever but I know they need to grow up to be independent adults. It just all happens so fast. On another Wyatt related note, he is able to eat all the foods now and has been for about 2 months!! It is so nice to be able to give him Goldfish, pizza, frozen yogurt, etc. Now I am going to work on lowering his meds.

Aug 2013 Harbor Island Vacation

I needed to get another blog post out and I realized I am such a slacker I never posted any pictures from our Harbor Island vacation.  So, here goes! We all had a great time and the weather was perfect.  We played more in the ocean this year than we ever have before.  Doug rented a paddle board and it was so much fun paddling around.  Denny rented a kayak that sat two people so that was a lot of fun too.  We mainly stayed at the house except for a trip into Beaufort where we played on the playground and ate lunch.
