Sam Playdate!

Sam & Lee Anne came over to play this week (May 24,2011).  Sam loves kitties, so to entice them to hang around they gave them treats.  It worked until Jack got rowdy and scared them away.  The weather was prefect, it was a much needed relaxing morning.
I loved Sam's hat

Abby's first ice cream cone April 4, 2011

Since we were having such hot weather I thought it would be fun to have an ice cream cone one afternoon.  Jack also thought it was a great idea, Abby wasn't sure since it was her first ice cream cone.  She quickly decided it was a fabulous idea.

bow

Jack looked at Abby this afternoon and told her she needed a bow. It was very funny.

Sleeping through the night? Is it possible?

I think Abby is night weaned and SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!  She is 22 months old.  About DAMN time.  It happened while we were in the mountains (Bryson City, NC) this past week.  The first night, she woke around 5:30am, but Jack was in bed with us, so I let her fuss (we were downstairs anyway, master on main) and she fell back asleep.  She slept until 7am and I didn't nurse her when she woke up.  The next day she slept until 5:30am, but pitched a fit, I nursed her but she stayed up.  The next day she slept until 8:15am!!!  And I didn't nurse her when she got up.  Then the next day, she slept until 7am.  She seems to be waking around 5:30am, but she fusses herself back to sleep until 7am or so.  It is a miracle.

Now, the upshot, is that we are putting Jack in our bed before we go to bed so he doesn't wake up.  Hopefully, she will just sleep until 7am without the 5:30am waking and Jack can stay in their room.  I am BEYOND thrilled.  Today, BOTH of them slept until 7am.  It was like Christmas.  I am hesitant to post this because I keep waiting for her to go back to waking up.  However, I will send DH in, because I am not going back.  Now we are only nursing before nap and bed.

Perhaps it took 2 months for her adenoid surgery to "pay off"?  I have no clue but I am thrilled.  Sleep is delicious!  Of course, now that I have posted this, she will be up tomorrow with bells and whistles at 5am.

Music

After many nights of sitting with Jack until he fell asleep, well, after many nights of Doug sitting with Jack until he fell asleep and him getting up between 4:30-6:30am in the morning, I decided enough was enough.  So tonight, I borrowed my dad's portable cd player and put on a classical lullabies cd on repeat.  I also made some "monster spray" and had Jack spray the room to keep the monsters out.  Lastly, I put together a "treasure box" filled with excellent stuff from the dollar store to entice him to sleep in.  The deal is if he can stay in bed until the sun comes up on his night light (6:30am for now), he gets to get a treasure out.  So, the good news was he was able to fall asleep BY HIMSELF!  So, my thought process is that if he wakes up at the ass crack of dawn he will be able to listen to his music and fall back asleep.  Sound logical?  I thought so.  I will report back tomorrow.
